Getting Your Tax School Started is Easy…
- What you need your first year as a tax school licensee:
If this is your first year ordering school materials from The Income Tax School you will need to purchase a New Operator's Kit and License, which includes the Operations Manual for the tax school. This manual will explain everything about how to plan, organize and administer your income tax school successfully.
- Check your state for school requirements:
It is always a good idea to check with the state you are in to learn about any requirements there may be for running a school.
- Determine what tax course(s) to teach:
We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced income tax courses. Your course selections may be determined by the most common type of tax returns you prepare in your offices. For instance, if you prepare mostly RAL returns, you may want to start with our Basic Income Tax Course.
- Determine how much to purchase:
You will need to decide how many students you plan to teach so you can determine the size kit(s) you will need. We have different kit sizes based on the number of students you will be teaching and most courses come in three, five, and ten-student kits.
- Determine whether to teach live, in a traditional classroom or online:
Licensees can also mix a kit, with some students learning in a classroom setting and some students learning online. This is great for those students who are unable to attend your live class. You can read about the benefits of both options here. Online kits are sold to licensees who will be the instructor for their own online students. The user IDs are provided with the kits instead of books for the students. All required materials are available online. Hard copies of books for your online students are available at discounted prices. Discounted book prices are only available for online students with user IDs purchased at the regular price. If you are interested in having a mixture of traditional classroom and online please call us at (800) 984-1040 to place a combination order.
- Consider purchasing marketing materials to promote your tax school:
If you are unsure as to what sort of response you will have, you may want to purchase some of our marketing materials first to help promote your upcoming classes. We offer brochures, posters, banners and inquiry and follow-up cards.
- Additional course materials are available:
Once you have purchased a kit with us, you may purchase additional manuals for that particular course. For example, if you purchase a 5-student Comprehensive Kit, you may purchase additional instructor and student materials for the Comprehensive course for that tax year. An example of how this is helpful - You order a 5-student kit and have 6 students sign up for your class.
- Some additional tools we offer that you may find helpful:
- We offer transparencies and pens if you are holding a live class and want to use an overhead projector to go over tax returns/assignments - showing how to fill them in, etc.
- We also offer answer keys on CD that you can use on a projector to go over tax returns/assignments in class.
