Completion of an online course with The Income Tax School does not guarantee employment.

Transferability of credit and credentials earned is at the sole discretion of the receiving school.

Student’s Start Date

The start date of a student’s course, seminar, or certificate program is the date of purchase, as students are automatically enrolled into their course, seminar, or certificate program immediately after purchase on the website is confirmed.

No Live Classes

The Income Tax School does not offer live classes, therefore, Number 6, Section II of SCHEV’s Non-Degree School – Student Enrollment Agreement, regarding student’s right to cancel before the first class day of the session for which the application was made, does not apply to The Income Tax School.

Refund Policy

If cancellation of enrollment occurs after 5 days, excluding holidays and weekends, following receipt of a student User ID, the following refund policies will apply:

  1. If cancellation occurs after 5 days, the student will receive a refund less a 25% registration fee provided that any graded assignments have not been accessed.
  2. If cancellation occurs after 5 days and any graded assignments have been accessed, the student will receive a refund less a 25% registration fee. The remainder of the balance will then be divided by the total number of chapters and graded assignments accessed.  The chapter content is considered 75% of the chapter. If the student accessed the graded assignment, they are considered having accessed more than 75% of the chapter. If the course is a seminar, the seminar content is considered 75% of the course. Accessing the graded assignment is considered as having accessed more than 75% of the course. The remaining refund will then be reduced by the number of chapters and graded assignments the student has accessed within the Learning Management System.

Refunds must be requested by giving written notice of cancellation within the course access time frame specified. Please allow 30 days for refunds to be processed. Refunds may take 1-2 billing cycles to appear on your statement dependent on your credit card provider.

Refund Policy

If you cancel your enrollment after 15 days of receipt of your student User ID, the following refund policies will apply:

  • If cancellation occurs before completion of or access to less than 50% of the course, the student will receive a prorated refund of tuition, less a $100 registration fee and any shipping charges incurred by The Income Tax School.
  • If cancellation occurs after completion of or access to 50% or more of the course, the remainder of the balance will then be divided by the total number of chapters and graded assignments accessed. The chapter content is considered 75% of the chapter. If the student accessed the graded assignment, they are considered having accessed more than 75% of the chapter. The remaining refund will then be reduced by the number of chapters and graded assignments the student has accessed within the Learning Management System.

All technical, instructor, and administrative support for CE seminars ends on 12/28 and begins again on 1/3.

Student Grievance Policy

Grievances and complaints should be submitted by phone to our corporate office at (804) 204-1040 or emailed to the attention of Sheila Clark at sclark@theincometaxschool.com. The school administrative staff will address grievances and complaints. Responses will be issued via email with ten business days of receiving the grievance or complaint. To appeal a decision made by the ITS’ administrative staff, please contact Charles McCabe at cmccabe@theincometaxschool.com. If the student is not satisfied with the resolution of his grievance, they may contact the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) located at 101 N. 14th Street, James Monroe Building, Richmond, VA 23219. Telephone: (804) 225-2600 Fax: (804) 225-2604.

Students should attempt to resolve grievances in the following manner:

  • Email and/or call the classroom instructor/or program director as appropriate to discuss the problem.
    • If not resolved, meet with the school/campus director to discuss the problem. The decision of the director shall be final unless the complaint is a violation of state or federal law or administrative rule.
    • If the complaint cannot be resolved after exhausting the school’s procedure and the complainant alleges a violation of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).

ITS’ students are encouraged to discuss grievances/complaints and to contact SCHEV if they feel a satisfactory resolution has not been reached.  Students will not be subject to unfair or adverse actions because of initiating a complaint proceeding.
