The Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) requires completion of both the Comprehensive and Advanced-I courses with an average grade of at least 80% plus 100 hour of tax preparation experience to be awarded the CTA professional certification. The CTA can be taken with or without the optional Comprehensive Course $100 Business Start-up Package. Each year after qualifying for the CTA, you must complete at least 15 hours of continuing education (9 hours federal tax law, 3 hours ethics and 3 hours new tax law updates). In addition to certificates of completion for each course, a CTA certificate is awarded by The Income Tax School and you will be authorized to use the CTC professional designation after your name. The additional cost of the CTA compared to the Comprehensive and Advanced-I bundle is to cover administration of the CTA certification.
